Any heatproof candle vessel should work. Popular options include glass, ceramic, concrete, tin, metal, and some treated wood containers. If it held a candle safely before and is heat-safe, it’s usually a good candidate.

Wicks are designed to burn to a specific width. Measuring the inside diameter helps you choose the right wick size, which prevents tunnelling and supports an even burn.

This is the curing time. It gives the fragrance and wax time to bind, which usually leads to a stronger, more even scent when you burn the candle. You are absolutely able to light from when it's set though!

If you add fragrance oil when the wax is too hot, it can evaporate and you’ll lose scent. If the wax is too cool, the oil may not bind properly. Following the recommended temperature range in your instructions helps you get the best result.

Once the candle has cooled, simply pinch off the excess ash from the top of the wooden wick. You do not need special wick cutters, although you can use them if you prefer.

With wooden wicks, a small amount of ash can fall into the melt pool and tint the wax slightly. This is normal and does not affect the fragrance or how the candle burns.
