FAQ's

What containers can I use?

Any container that is heatproof should work which mainly includes:

Glass
Ceramic
Concrete
Tin
Metal
Wood

What are the wicks made from?

100% Organic Untreated Wood

Why do you have to measure the diameter of the container?

The wicks burn to a specific diameter, so it is very important to use the correct size wick for the container to stop your candle from tunnelling.

Please ensure you use the correct size container for your size wick.

How should I leave the candle burning before blowing out?

You need to leave the candle burning at least until the wax has melted across the whole container. This will ensure the candle does not tunnel down the middle.

How short should the wick be cut?

Roughly 0.5cm above the top of the wax.

Why do I have to stir the fragrance for 2 minutes?

The fragrance oil does not automatically bind with the wax, therefore, needs some help and time to blend so you can have an even scent throughout the burn of the candle.

Where are the fragrance oils made?

Our WICK-ED candle fragrance oils are UK manufactured and Paraben Free Quality Oils.

Why should I leave the candle for 2 weeks before lighting?

This is called the ‘curing time’ - it is the time it takes the scented oil and wax to ‘bind’ giving the candle a stronger scent.

Why wait before adding the fragrance oil?

If you add the oil whilst the wax is very hot It could just evaporate and you will have no scent left for your candle.  If you add it when the temperature is too low the fragrance oil will not bind with the wax and produce no fragrance.

The temperature you add your fragrance oil is very important to get the right result.

Please follow the instructions.

How do I trim the wick after lighting?

You just pinch the excess ash from the wick with your fingers. It is not essential to use wick cutters or scissors.

Why does the wax turn brown after burning?

This is some of the ash from the woodwick which has coloured the wax.

It is very normal for woodwick candles to do this and will not affect the fragrance or burning of your candle.
